RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN

Children’s Liturgy of the Word
This program allows children seven years and younger to participate in the Liturgy of the Word portion of the Sunday Mass in a space separate from the main assembly. At the conclusion of the opening prayer, but before the first reading is proclaimed, the presiding priest may formally ask children who wish to participate to join their minister and celebrate their own Liturgy of the Word. Children are returned to their families in time to celebrate the Eucharist together. The program will be offered at all 10 a.m. Masses for which there are enough volunteers.

Continuing Christian Education (CCE)

The Continuing Christian Education program of St. Rose of Lima Parish has a fivefold mission:

  1. To enable EVERY member of the St. Rose Parish Family to grow in the understanding of their Catholic faith, thus growing in their relationship with God.
  2. To assist the St. Rose Parish Family in living out the tenets of their faith.
  3. To form our children and their parents, as well as the entire St. Rose Family to be properly prepared to receive the graces that flow from the frequent reception of the Sacraments.
  4. To participate in the St. Rose Parish Mission of “making room for all at the table of the Lord through loving service.”
  5. To assist parents in fulfilling their baptismal commitment to nurture their children in the way of our faith.

Students use the Sadlier "Coming to Faith" series. Coming to Faith provides an authentic presentation to our Catholic faith.

“The Word of God in the Life and Mission of the Church" is the theme for the 2008/2009 catechetical year. Children will experience a deeper awareness of the presence of Jesus in their everyday lives.
