ACTS Retreats
Contact: Sharon Sipps, 713-681-5892, sharon.sipps@gmail.com
An ACTS retreat is a three day and three night Catholic lay retreat presented by fellow parishioners. The retreat begins on Thursday evening and ends the following Sunday at a Mass celebrated with the parish community. Retreats for men and for women are given separately. Talks and activities focus on Adoration, Community, Theology, and Service, from which the ACTS acronym is derived. Holy Scripture and the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church are the guides for the retreats. The goal is to develop a new or deeper relationship with the Lord and fellow retreatants.

They also must be familiar with archdiocesan fiscal policies and encourage support of parish and archdiocesan stewardship programs. Members are appointed by the pastor for staggered three-year renewable terms.

The Gabriel Project, sponsored by the Archdiocesan Respect Life Office, is a parish-based program that responds to any pregnant woman in need and gives her strength to do what is right. This group also works within the parish to foster an understanding of the value and sanctity of life. From the time a pregnant woman responds to the offer of help she is entrusted to the care of a parish volunteer, a “Gabriel Angel”, who will assess her needs and help her to get assistance through the parish and associated services. This help could include mother and baby items, prenatal and delivery care, housing and financial assistance. Pregnant mothers seeking help should call the Gabriel Project at 713-225-5826.
