WHO IS IT FOR?
Any adult who is:
- interested in becoming a member of the Catholic faith
- a baptized Catholic who has not received the sacraments of Confirmation, Reconciliation, or Eucharist
- simply interested in learning more about the Catholic faith
- a practicing Catholic who would like to be a companion or sponsor to those taking the RCIA faith journey and update their understanding of their faith at the same time
WHAT IS IT?
The RCIA is the process by which we bring adults into the Catholic faith.
The RCIA a journey that provides a living experience of the Church.
In the RCIA we come together to form community, to pray, and to learn.
Unbaptized adults will come into the faith through the sacrament of Baptism. They will also receive the sacraments of Confimation & Eucharist.
Adults who have received valid baptism in other Christian faiths, come into the Church by making a Profession of Faith and completing the Initiation Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist.
Adult RCIA sessions are held on Sundays.
We will meet in room C of the Administration Building after the 8 a.m. Mass (about 9:15). The sessions will last until about 11:30 a.m.
HOW DO I GET STARTED (or help someone else to start)?
For more information or to register, call the parish office, (713) 692-9123.
Do you have a relative or friend who is or might be interested in learning more about the Catholic faith? Take a chance, reach out to them and extend a personal invitation. The “inquiry” period is a time where those exploring the Catholic faith have an opportunity to have questions answered and in a very basic way begin to understand the Catholic faith. At St. Rose of Lima, we conduct four periods of inquiry during the year. If you or someone you care about would like to know more about becoming Catholic then please join us. There is no ongoing commitment to completion of the entire R.C.I.A. process.
Offer to come to a session with them. Everyone is welcome to sit in and no one will be made to feel they must commit to the entire program, or that their attendance implies they are sure they want to become a Catholic.
Ultimately those who wish to continue in RCIA will have a personal interview with the Connie Swenceski to determine the best way to assist each individual. They will be directed into a one or two year program depending on their background.
The next set of "Inquire Within" sessions will be held on the Tuesdays of January from 7 to 8pm in the Conference room of the Administration Building.
