Laura Gonzalez, Assistant Director of the Early Childhood Center

Hello Parishioners!

I’m originally from Mexico and Hablo Español. My birth saint is St. Fabian, the 20th Pope.

Over the years, my faith has been shaped by many devotions, especially to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the Rosary, and Eucharistic Adoration. I also have a deep love for Mary through her many advocations — the Immaculate Conception, Queen of Peace, and Our Lady of Guadalupe. Some of my favorite saints are the Teresas — St. Teresa of Ávila, St. Thérèse of Lisieux, and St. Teresa of Calcutta — along with St. Augustine, St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, St. Thomas Aquinas, and of course St. Lucy.

I graduated in Finance from the University of Houston and worked in that field for a few years, but eventually felt called to something more meaningful. That led me to Catholic radio, where I served for six years as National Coordinator, leading teams across the U.S. with both staff and more than 300 volunteers.

For the past 20 years, I’ve been part of Prince of Peace Parish, serving in many ministries — from the Guatemala Mission and Loaves and Fishes program to parish retreats, ACTS Core Team, ACTS Women’s Retreat (as Director in 2023), as well as serving as a catechist, Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, and Proclaimer of the Word. Right now, I’m also working on completing the Spiritual Companion program with the Holy Name Passionist Center.

Travel is one of my great joys — I’ve been blessed to visit more than 28 countries, including several Marian shrines and even walking through the land of Jesus! Those experiences have deeply enriched my faith, and I’m always happy to share advice with others about making similar pilgrimages.

From the world of finance to the world of mission, God has guided me to where I am today. I’m passionate about the Eucharist, and I look forward to meeting and serving the St. Rose parish family!
