Troop 40 exists to surround Scouts with authentic men of faith, inspiring growth in character, leadership, and service, and helping them build the foundation to become the men God created them to be.

Events

Founded in 1950 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Troop 40 has proudly upheld a traditional, old-school approach to Scouting for over 75 years. True to its roots, the troop emphasizes timeless values, hands-on skills, and outdoor adventure, ensuring that the essence of Scouting remains as strong today as it was at its founding.

For 68 years, Troop 40 was blessed to call its very own Scout Hut home at St. Rose. With the positive growth of the school and the addition of new buildings, the troop now meets in the St. Rose East Hall, continuing its mission of providing a safe and enriching environment for Scouts.

As a ministry of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Troop 40 is proud to actively support our parish community. Scouts and leaders regularly serve at parish events such as the St. Rose Fish Fry, Spring Festival, St. Rose Day, and the Veterans’ Dinner, among others. Through these acts of service, Troop 40 strengthens its bond with the parish, lives out the values of duty to God and others, and provides Scouts with meaningful opportunities to give back to the church that has supported and guided the troop since its founding.

Troop 40 is highly active in camping and outdoor programs, offering Scouts a wide variety of opportunities to grow and explore. The program includes canoeing, trail camping, summer camp, Philmont, Northern Tier, Sea Base Bahamas, pioneering, orienteering, fishing, and much more—ensuring every Scout experiences the outdoors, builds leadership skills, and creates lifelong memories.

Over the decades, Troop 40 has seen more than 100 Scouts earn the rank of Eagle Scout, a testament to the troop’s dedication to developing strong character and capable leaders. More than just a place to learn Scouting skills, Troop 40 is a community where fathers and sons grow together, strengthen their bonds, and provide an environment where young men can thrive.

In 1994, Mr. Rick Wrobel became Scoutmaster of Troop 40, leading the troop with dedication, hands-on guidance, and a strong focus on camping and outdoor adventures, all while maintaining a traditional, old-school approach to Boy Scouting. Working alongside him, Chairman Tyler Sowers, who assumed the role in 2019, leads the Troop Committee and supports the Scoutmaster to helps ensure a safe, supportive, and enriching environment, providing Scouts with the opportunities and resources they need to grow, learn, and thrive.

Troop 40 continues to be a place where Scouts develop character, confidence, and lifelong friendships, all while embracing the enduring traditions of Boy Scouting.
